VIDEO: Rally at Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken on West Lake Street

On March 3, a group of workers at Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken wrote to owners demanding back wages. Workers allege that Bonchon ownership withheld about 50 percent of tips as well as paying them below the minimum wage.

Facing a series of complaints from workers, Bonchon admitted that it took tips from servers and issued an apology. However, reimbursed tips came with a 5 percent deduction for “credit card processing fees.”

Servers felt retaliated against as those that brought up the issue faced severe cuts in hours and shifts.
