Teamsters add 1,000 members at UPS Freight

UPS Freight is the former Overnite Transportation, whose management often illegally resisted organizing. But when UPS bought Overnite, the Teamsters negotiated the card-check recognition pact – where the firm recognizes the union after IBT gets cards from a majority of workers — for former Overnite workers, union Vice President Ken Hall explained.

“The UPS Freight clerks are eager for a strong contract that only Teamster representation can provide, and I’m pleased to welcome our newest Teamsters,” Hall added. The new clerical members are in Stoneham, Mass. (Local 25), Farmingdale, N.Y. (Local 707), Rialto and Fontana, Calif. (Local 63), and Indianapolis (Local 135).

The clerks are both full-time and part-time workers who ensure freight dispatch, billing and operations run smoothly at UPS Freight terminals.
