May Day demonstrations focus on immigration reform

In Duluth, a May Day Peoples Gathering will start at noon and run until 8:30 p.m. at the Washington Center, 310 N 1st Ave W.

In St. Paul, a march and rally at the state Capitol are scheduled. The march begins at 3 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 500 Cedar St. The rally is set for 4 p.m. on the south stairs of the Capitol.

“On May Day, join immigrant rights organizations, faith and community groups, and labor unions as we call on our elected officials to pass just and humane immigration reform this year,” the groups said in announcing the events. “Together, we will fix our broken immigration system for our children, our families, and our future!”
