Letter Carriers set up fund for member killed on the job

The National Association of Letter Carriers has set up a memorial fund for the family of Leo Brandt, who died in an accident at the Brooklyn Center branch of the U.S. Postal Service.

Brandt was hit by a vehicle June 18 at the postal facility.

“While the circumstances of this tragedy are still under investigation and we are left with more questions than answers, we must now work to support each other and especially the families involved during this time of grief and sorrow,” the union said in announcing the memorial fund.

“Leo was a truly a unique individual; he always had an upbeat attitude and could be counted on to go out of his way to try and raise your spirits in times of difficulty. Leo leaves behind (that which he was most proud of and would always talk about) his family: his loving wife Loreese; his children Crissy, Cory, Ciara and Cayla and his grandchildren Nataliah and Avery. He also leaves behind a host of friends and co-workers. If you spent anytime at Brooklyn Center, be it a week or years, you knew Leo. He will truly be missed.”
