Does HAVA affect you?

You could be affected by new voter registration requirements if at least one of these applies to you:

? You have never registered to vote.
? You registered to vote in 2003.
? You registered to vote in 2004, but not in person at an appropriate government office.
? You have never voted in a presidential, U.S. Senate or Congressional election.
? You moved since you last voted.
? You changed your name since you last voted.
? You were registered to vote, but did not vote in the 2000 presidential election, or in the 2000 U.S. Senate or Congressional elections, or in the 2002 U.S. Senate or Congressional elections.

Under state law, voters who do not vote at least once every four years are dropped automatically from the roster of eligible voters.

?If all you do is vote in presidential elections, you never fall off,? said Joe Mansky, Ramsey County elections manager. ?If you voted for Ventura in 1998 but didn?t vote since then,? he said, your name has been removed and you have to re-register.

You probably are not affected by new voting requirements if:
? You have not moved or changed your name since you last voted in a federal election, and
? You voted in the 2000 presidential election, or in the 2000 U.S. Senate or Congressional elections, or the 2002 U.S. Senate or Congressional elections.
