Nurses rally for patients’ safety
4 January 2013
THIEF RIVER FALLS - Registered nurses are rallying in Thief River Falls Friday for legislation to establish minimum staffing standards in medical facilities across Minnesota.
Members of the Minnesota Nurses Association from Bagley, Bemidji and Thief River Falls will hold the rally from 3 to 4 p.m. at Centennial Park in Thief River Falls. The park is located on 8th Street across from Northland Technical College.

Featured speakers will be Linda Hamilton, president of the Minnesota Nurses Association; and Jean Ross, co-president of National Nurses United.

"Patient safety is slipping through the cracks!" the MNA said in announcing the event. The union, which represents 20,000 registered nurses, said a new survey shows that “nurses’ valuable judgment is being frozen out of safety decisions, and patients are at risk in hospitals throughout the state.”
