Kucera is new Labor Education Service director
5 July 2010
MINNEAPOLIS - The leadership of the University of Minnesota Labor Education Service changed July 1 when staff member Barb Kucera became director.
Kucera replaced Howard Kling, who concluded nine years as director. Kling will continue his videography work and returns to being head of the LES media program. Kucera will maintain her role as editor of the Workday Minnesota website in addition to being director.

The change is in accordance with the program’s process of electing a director every three years.

“Time to change things – and Barb will be a great director,” Kling said. “Meanwhile I’m looking forward to being more of a media activist again, doing more video, and stirring up trouble with some writing as well.”

“I look forward to continuing many of the initiatives begun under Howard’s leadership, while also helping LES address new financial and programmatic challenges,” Kucera said.

The Labor Education Service is the only educational entity in the state specifically focused on the needs of Minnesota workers and their organizations. It has nine staff members and is based on the Minneapolis campus of the university. Learn more at the LES website.
