ANOKA - Seniors living in Anoka County got help with fall yard work Sunday from a group of union volunteers and elected officials.
Union volunteers from the North Suburban Labor Council partnered with the Anoka County Community Action Program's Senior Chores Program to assist senior home owners with fall yard work.

Volunteers included teachers, communication workers, operating engineers, painters, letter carriers, postal workers and others. The union volunteers raked leaves and yard waste, cleaned up gardens, and assisted with other fall chores at eight senior households in Anoka, Blaine and Coon Rapids.

Several elected officials also joined in the afternoon of community service, including Anoka County Commissioners Dick Lang and Dan Erhart, State Representative Jerry Newton, Ham Lake Mayor Paul Meunier, and State Senator Tarryl Clark.

The North Suburban Labor Council represents 30,000 union members in Anoka County. It is one of three suburban labor councils working as part of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.
