Minnesota representatives to hold health care forums
30 June 2009
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Representatives Keith Ellison, Betty McCollum and Collin Peterson will hold town meetings on health care reform this week.
The meetings coincide with efforts by President Obama to promote legislation to provide universal and affordable health care coverage.

“American health care is a mess. Our patchwork public-private system costs far too much and delivers far too little,” Ellison said in announcing his forum, which will run Wednesday, July 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at UCare, 500 Stinson Boulevard NE, Minneapolis. He noted:

• The cost of health care is increasing by 13% each year.
• Nearly 50 million Americans have no health insurance at all.
• Congress will begin debating health care reform bills in less than a month.
• President Obama wants real change and the American people are demanding it.

The forum will include Ellison, health care experts and community leaders, his office said. For more information, contact David at 612-522-4416 or david@keithellison.org

Health Care Town Hall Meeting with Congresswoman Betty McCollum will hold her town hall meeting on health care also on Wednesday, July 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Highland Park Picnic Pavilion, 1270 Montreal Avenue, St. Paul.

On Thursday, July 2, Congressman Collin Peterson’s Health Policy Staffer Robin Goracke will discuss health care with members of the public from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Willmar Community Center, 624 Hwy 71 NE, Willmar.
