Minneapolis teachers to demonstrate for fair contract
10 December 2007
MINNEAPOLIS - Saying contract negotiations have reached a critical stage, Minneapolis teachers will demonstrate at Tuesday's School Board meeting.

Teachers and other union members, wearing red to show solidarity, will rally at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the John B. Davis Educational Services Center, 807 NE Broadway, Minneapolis. They will then attend the School Board meeting for the public comment period from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

"Contract negotiations between Minneapolis teachers and the Minneapolis School District are at a critical stage and teachers need your support as they fight for a fair contract," Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Local 59 said in announcing the action. Key issues in the bargaining are pay and protecting seniority.
