August 19, 1916 - Strikebreakers hired by Everett Mills owner Neil Jamison attacked and beat picketing strikers in Everett, Washington. Local police watched and refused to intervene, claiming that the waterfront where the attack took place was federal land and therefore outside their jurisdiction.
