Retiree council plans annual fundraising bash

Good times will roll at the Minnesota State Retiree Council’s fundraiser April 29, and people of any age are welcome to join in the fun.

The 14th Annual State Retiree Council Fun(d)raiser will extend from 3 to 7 p.m. at a new venue, the St. Paul Labor Center, 353 W. 7th St., near the Smith Avenue intersection. Parking is available in two lots north of the building.

Admission and parking are free, and the event will feature free food, music, hourly raffles for valuable prizes and a silent auction. Funds raised will help the state council inform retired workers about issues that affect them and organize action by retirees to assure a secure and dignified retirement for all.

“With mounting threats to pensions and our Social Safety Net, organizing the growing ranks of retirees and our families is more necessary than ever,” organizers said in a press release announcing the event.

A drawing for major cash prizes will conclude the event. Winners need not be present. Three tickets cost $5 and can be purchased from retiree council board members or by calling the council office: 651-227-7647, ext. 121.
