Custodians in the Elk River school district plan two actions to protest efforts by the district to outsource custodial jobs.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, custodians and supporters will gather at 7:30 a.m. outside the Handke Center, 1170 Main St., Elk River, where a pre-proposal meeting for contractors will be held.
On Monday, Dec. 14, custodians and supporters will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Gateway Church, 13913 185th Ave., Elk River. The group will organize and have dinner there, then go to the School Board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Custodians are represented by Service Employees International Union Local 284. The union is asking for supporters to turn out at both events.
