Cement Mason apprentices display Christmas creativity

For the sixth year running, a new group of apprentices showcased their skills and creativity at the Cement Masons Local 633 training facility in New Brighton, creating a “Concrete Christmas” display.

“It’s kind of design-build as we go,” said apprentice instructor Dave Schutta, Maple Grove. The four-week project involved about 30 apprentices.

“They see ‘I can think outside the box,’” Schutta said. “That might be the spark they need for their career.”

The display included a gingerbread man and a chair for Santa Claus.
